Intensive PT (several hours per day for a week or longer) can be a great way to jumpstart progress before or after SDR. For post-SDR intensives, Dr. Park recommends waiting at least 3 months after SDR surgery for maximum benefit. Please note, I am not affiliated with any of the options below; these are just for your reference.

St. Louis Children’s Hospital: St. Louis Children’s Hospital offers intensive therapy blocks of 1 or 2 weeks, 3 hours per day for 5 days at a time (1 hour of occupational therapy, 2 hours of physical therapy). These may be covered by insurance, but be sure to check first. Some insurances will only cover sessions up to 1 hour per day, leaving the other 2 hours for you to pay out of pocket. If the sessions are out of pocket, St. Louis can offer a self-pay discount. Email [email protected] to schedule.

Walk This Way: Many SDR families have had success at Walk This Way, which has centers in Texas, the UK, and Malta. The individuals who run this center are personal trainers, so the sessions cannot be covered by insurance, but they have extensive experience working with SDR patients.
